  • RINSE - pathways and vectors of biological invasions in Northwest Europe is a species checklist dataset published by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). It contains detailed information on 359 taxa, comprising all non-native Mollusca, Osteichthyes (bony fish), Anseriformes (wildfowl), Mammalia and all non-native, invasive Angiospermae occurring in the wild in the Two Seas region countries (Great Britain, France, Belgium and the Netherlands). This dataset is the result of the screening of 33 national and international print and online sources by Zieritz et al. (2017, https://doi.org/10.1007/s10530-016-1278-z), where it was originally published as supplementary material (Table S2). Here it is published as a standardized Darwin Core Archive and includes for each taxon: the scientific name, higher classification and stable taxon identifier (in the taxon core), the country where it is established as a non-native taxon, the year of first introduction and last assessment in that specific country (given as a year range in the event date in the distribution extension), coarse habitat information (in the species profile extension), the pathway(s) of introduction and native range(s) (in the description extension) and an overview of the consulted literature for each taxon (in the literature references extension).   • Waarnemingen.be - Fish occurrences in Flanders and the Brussels Capital Region, Belgium is a species occurrence dataset published by Natuurpunt. The dataset contains over 16,000 fish (Actinopterygii, Cephalaspidomorphi, Chondrichthyes, Leptocardii) occurrences of 132 naturally occurring species (native, vagrant or migrant species), recorded by volunteers (citizen scientists), mainly since 2008. The occurrences are derived from the database http://www.waarnemingen.be, hosted at the nature conservation NGO Natuurpunt in collaboration with Stichting Natuurinformatie. Standardized information regarding the occurrence's sex, lifeStage, behavior, occurrenceRemarks, and samplingProtocol is included as well. Generalized and/or withheld information: location information is generalized to 5 x 5 km² Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) grid cells. Observer name, exact XY-coordinates, toponyms, and photographs are not included in the published dataset, but are known in the source database. To allow anyone to use this dataset, we have released the data to the public domain under a Creative Commons Zero waiver (http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/).   • VIS - 'Reference Freshwater Monitoring’ in Flanders, Belgium is a sample based dataset published by the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO). The database is described in Brosens et al. 2015 (https://doi.org/10.3897/zookeys.475.8556). The dataset contains over 25,000 fish occurrences sampled between 2013 and 2015 from 246 in inland rivers, streams and canals in Flanders, Belgium. The dataset includes 42 fish species, as well as a number of non-target species (mainly crustaceans). The data are retrieved from the Fish Information System (VIS), a database set up to monitor the status of fishes and their habitats in Flanders and are collected in support of the Water Framework Directive, the Habitat Directive, certain red lists, and biodiversity research. Additional information, such as measurements, absence information and abiotic data are available upon request.
