Open Data uit Bibliotheek Informatie- en OpvolgSysteem (BIOS) 2006–2019

Deze dataset bevat 19 csv's met gegevens over de werking van bibliotheken voor de jaren 2006 t.e.m. 2019 over thema's zoals collectie en gebruik, digitale gegevens en bibliotheektarieven, infrastructuur en openingstijden, inkomsten en uitgaven, personeel en vrijwilligers, activiteiten, promotie en dienstverlening.

Deze gegevens werden verzameld door het Departement Cultuur, Jeugd en Media via het Bibliotheek Informatie- en OpvolgSysteem (BIOS), een webtoepassing voor de registratie van gegevens over de bibliotheken. In deze dataset zit ook een pdf met de toenmalige handleiding voor BIOS voor bibliotheken voor meer toelichting bij de csv bestanden.

Met de inkanteling van de Vlaamse subsidies in het gemeentefonds en het wegvallen van de decretale verplichting tot registratie door bibliotheken in 2016 daalde de participatiegraad stelselmatig voor de monitor BIOS. Dit leidde tot een daling van de betrouwbaarheid en representativiteit van de data. Om die reden besliste het departement in 2019 om BIOS (alsook CCinC, Cultuur- en gemeenschapsCentra in Cijfers) stop te zetten vanaf werkjaar 2020 en een beperkte set kernindicatoren uit beide monitors in te kantelen in de lokale vrijetijdsmonitor. Met het uitfaseren van BIOS en CCinC werd ook het 'Kennisportaal cultuurcentra en bibliotheken' en de bijhorende QlikView-rapportering uitgefaseerd.
